During that time, our country saw the establishment of a dense network of orthopaedic centres, fully meeting the requirements of patients as regards the treatment of injuries and the locomotor system. The achievements need to be continued, especially in the times of political and economic transformation, when a new millenium has just started. The quality of the medical discipline that we practise depends mainly upon the people that work in it, it is only thanks to them that any further development may be possible. That is why the community of orthopaedic surgeons needs to be respected while the importance of the Association deserves continuous enhancement of its importance.
